Swine Flu?
Breaking: The Secretary of Human Services, former Arizona governor Janet Napolitano, has declared a U.S. public health emergency concerning the outbreak of swine flu. So far 20 people been sickened in California, New York, Texas, Ohio and Kansas. The Center for Disease Control (CDC) has said it is prepared to distribute a quarter of its 50 million doses of anti-viral medications to affected areas.Napolitano added that hand washing, mask wearing, and staying at home if you're sick will help contain the virus and keep you healthy.
Dr. Richard Besser, head of the CDC, has said that the U.S., Canada, and Mexico are working with the World Health Organization and other countries to help reduce the spread of this strain of swine flu.
So far countries such as Israel, New Zealand, Spain, France, and Canada have reported isolated cases of the flu after tourists have returned home from Mexico.
Mexico has reported over 80 deaths in their country so far. Travel advisories, however, have not been issued, and passengers on flights arriving from Mexico will not be screened.
